The Adventures of Will W Wilson: Will's Traveler

$8.50Price

Will’s Traveler is about the adventures of a child prodigy as he takes his small sailboat, Will’s Traveler, out into the Gulf Stream searching for his parents, lost in Hurricane Katrina.  The adventure unfolds as Will learns from his radio of the atrocities going on in New Orleans.  He avoids contact with land and ships, fearing for his life.  Believing that his father is drifting in his lifeboat somewhere along the Gulf Stream, he practices lessons he learned from him and his encyclopedias and sails on.  He meets Bernard the whale, who becomes his friend and benefactor and saves him from a group of Cuban exiles.

Recalling what he read about the Bahamas Islands, Will takes a detour to Abaco, thinking his father may be there stocking up on fish.  He meets several friendly Bahamians who help him survive by teaching him to open coconuts, catch conch and lobster, and maneuver the Cays.  He meets the Olsen’s, who take him in and show him how to use the computer to search for his parents.  Will trades his knowledge of music for a new language and the repair of is boat.

Half adventure, half basic sailing lesson, complete with a glossary of sailing terms and illustrations of sailboats, Will’s Traveler will thrill you and teach you.  And it just could lure you to experience the joy of a sailboat.
