INTRODUCTION
Where you find beauty and words
This site is primarily a sales site for my books and my paintings, however, for those of you who are not familiar with me or my work, I am including this autobiographical page for your information.
In addition to my paintings, I have a fairly large inventory of used Art and old School Books that I am selling as well as my children's series, Wills Traveler, book one and two.
I most recently added a page entitled, Dr.Z.s Adult Books. This page will highlight my latest novel, Love To Kill, an x-rated book of short stories. In addition, it may illustrate my professional papers on the subject of Aesthetics or my theory of Circumstantialism.
WHAT IS THIS?
This is where you will learn what Dr. Z is up to. What he is painting or writing, what he has been doing, what is on the horizon, where he is traveling, or just what he is thinking about. You can see his covers, read excerpts from his books, and even order a book directly from him. His paintings are also for sale on this site. Be cautioned that due to the unique nature of his colors changing or "flipping," as you change viewpoints, his paintings do not photograph well.
WHO IS DR. Z?
William Zwingelberg was born in South Dakota. After a thirty-five year career in Baltimore, Maryland, as an Artist, College Art Professor, and Dean of Liberal Arts, he retired and turned his creativity to writing and painting. He is an avid sailor, holds a fifty-ton Captains license in the U.S. Coast Guard, and has extensively sailed the waters of the U.S. East Coast, Bermuda, and the Bahamas.
Dr. Z has been married for over sixty years to his wife, Tammy. They have three children, Shanando, Shane, and Shala, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He currently resides in Deadwood, South Dakota. Dr. Zwingelberg is a graduate of South Dakota State University, has a Masters Degree in painting from West Virginia University, and earned a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in Aesthetics. He has written about and taught Art Appreciation and Aesthetics at West Virginia University, the University of Maryland, and CCBC.

WHAT IS HE DOING NOW?
After retiring in 2004, Dr. Zwingelberg sailed the East Coast, the Bahamas, Florida's Gulf Coast, and Cape Cod. He spent six to eight months a year on his sailboat Santee, and later, Wills Traveler. His favorite voyages were to sail to a destination and have friends and relatives join him for a week or two or longer. His wife Tammy often accomanied him in the Bahamas or elsewhere during his voyages.
After 12 years of living and writing on his boat Tammy and Bill retired full time to the Black Hills in South Dakota. They sold their sailboat and began land cruises visiting children and grandchildren along the way. Since then Bill has started painting again and in 2015 had a three person show in Maryland with his longtime friends and colleagues, Jane Morais and Richard Roth. He continues to sell his work, mostly on the East Coast. When this web site is complete he will concentrate more on his paintings and book collections.
Dr. Z continues to write, now mainly working on his Philosophical Theory of Circumstancialism. He and Tammy are also working on a family story for their Grandchildren.
WHATS NEXT?
This will debut his new web site where he can display his work and offer for sale to those who are interested. He will show his paintings, his Will W Wilson series, and his collection of old Art and School books. He is continuing his professional research and writings concerning his Philosophical Theory of Circumstancialism.
In the meantime he will continue to paint, write, collect books, and occasionally rebuild a camper or build a race boat.
